“I like to convey emotion using light, color and design,” said VanDeVanter, of his imaginative art style. “Some are based in nature, while others are a series of designs riddled with hidden meanings, trying to expose the psyche of the creator.”

About Steven VanDeVanter

Steve VanDeVanter is an alum of the Herron School of Art and Design, and the owner of Immix Home Installations, a residential window and door company, as well as a freelance artist. The father of two and grandfather of one says he does what he does with his art because it makes him feel good to do it, “simple as that.”

“Most of my art are oil paintings on canvas, created through imagination and design. They’re inspired by personal views and emotions,” said VanDeVanter.

VanDeVanter says his show, kicking off Full Circle Nine’s second year as a gallery and artist cooperative, is a look back on the old and starting new; a new year and new beginnings. He hopes his art will foster an emotional attachment on the part of the viewer, and invites patrons to add their own stories.

“A loose heart design, appearing to flow through the painting in a swirling motion, shedding its weight,” VanDeVanter described. “Reborn, the mechanical heart moves forward to new life, branching out for a new beginning.”

The Full Circle Nine Gallery operates as an artist cooperative gallery, with each of the member artists and the board dividing gallery duties and artists roles. The artists will work together to help each other advance in skill and practice, as well as to bring success to the gallery.
