Mad Scientists Society VOL II - a juried variety group art show

IMPORTANT NOTE: Gallery is located in Bloomington, IN. However, for Indianapolis based artists the small submission fee includes transportation to/ from (here) to the gallery and back.
THEME & ELIGIBILITY:  Professional artists ages 18 or over residing in Indiana that can create visual elements to highlight epic imagination, zany practices,  and mad talent.
DEFT TALENT. EPIC IMAGINATION
KEY WORDS: worldy, vibrant, wild,  unusual, strange, provoking,
experienced, skilled, talented, detailed, crafty, spooky,
superb, fine, peerless, fantasy, crazy, freaky, fascinating, steam-punk,
surrealism, and abstract inspired art work.
FOCUS: What makes you unique as a creator, artist, visual wizard?
SPECIFICATIONS: Maximum size is no more than 48 x 48 x 4 inches.  All works must be framed or suitably presented. Wall hanging pieces must have D ring attachments or be properly ready to hang. Hanging works may not exceed 20 lbs. The coordinator will be responsible for hanging your work and a liability form will need to be released prior to committing to the show.
ACCEPTED MEDIUMS: All mediums will be considered for entry, however, some pieces may not be accepted due to space, flow and hazard issues and restrictions.

SALES: The venue and coordinator encourages the sale of works.  The venue can accept sales on behalf of the participating artists at a 25% commission rate with monies to be paid within 15 days after closing.

EXHIBIT: MARCH 1ST – MARCH 31ST 2019
DROP OFF DATE:  INDIANAPOLIS BASED ARTISTS will drop off art work at assigned locations in Indianapolis the last week of February. (TBA)
The coordinator will transport and hang all art work. Coordinator is responsible for art labels.STRIKE DATE/ PICK UP: INDIANAPOLIS BASED ARTISTS will pick up unsold art work at a location in Indianapolis the first week of APRIL. (TBA)
The coordinator will transport all unsold art work and return to owner.

DEADLINE:  JANUARY 21st 11:59PM
Max number of submissions: Five (5)
Entry Fee: $15.00
A payment request will be manually issued by AMY WARD STUDIO via email once submission is received.
 Fee includes transportation to/ from (Indy) to the gallery and back. Additionally, it also includes art work label, gallery rental, and event expenses.

Juror  #1 & Participate:   Matt Panfil recently received his M.F.A from Herron School of Art & Design. He’s the Art Director and co-owner of the Healer, an Indianapolis based Meow Wolf inspired venue. Matt is a video artist, collagist, poet, and filmmaker. He creates experimental films, music videos, and web-series. 
Recent accomplishments include NUVO’s Best of 2016 for his 3D work and a large monetary contest win awarded by the city for his video #WeWelcomeAll .

Juror #2  & ParticipateEllen Lyon Starr is a  mid-career artist with works showcased in galleries across the mid-west including Missouri, Denver, and Wisconsin.  Ellen is best known for her hyperrealism portrait paintings. Her home studio is part of the monthly art walk in Bloomington, IN.

Juror #3  & Participate:  Josh Haines is a Herron School of Art & Design graduate and Executive Director  of the Oilwick, a studio and exhibition space supporting emerging artists in Indianapolis. Josh is an active illustrator and painter.

Curator & ParticipateAmy Ward is an Indiana native who has traveled and lived in a variety of U.S cities. She is the founder of the Indianapolis chapter RAW: Natural Born Artists, a global arts organization and served as the City Director and National Scout for three years. She currently assists a series of galleries , local venues, and other organizations with a successful art rotation; focusing on mid-career, student, studio, and emerging artists.  Simultaneously, she’s a self-taught painter with public murals based in Indianapolis and works sold to art collectors across the country.
