Basic plot:  David Overhill is trying to put his life back together.  After spending 19 years in prison for manslaughter, he moves to the small town of Oak Hill, Florida with his sister Petra in order to have a “fresh start”.  Little does he know, however, that his daughter Naomi has also moved to Oak Hill with the intention of putting him where she thinks he belongs:  in prison.

DAVID  A struggling alcoholic, David is someone who has a tendency to blame everyone else for his actions but himself.  Even when he admits something, there is always a reason.  That being said, David is still trying to put his life back together and has decided to move in with his sister, Petra, in the small, quiet town of Oak Hill, FL.  Late 40’s to early 50’s.

JOSEPH  An elder at Oak Hill Christian Church, Joseph is a calm and quiet man that has spent much of his life in prayer. Married to Claudia for 5 years, he has always desired to follow in the footsteps of his father, a prison Chaplin, but has been halted because his wife feels that all prisoners are “evil” and “cannot be changed.” Late 50’s to early 60’s.

PAULENA Joseph’s wife is a kind, welcoming person who is loving and understanding of “regular” people.  Paulena, however, believes that certain people can never change and that they are inherently “evil.”  Mid to late 50’s.

PETRA  As both David’s sister and Paulena’s best friend, Petra feels caught between two people she loves dearly. Though she wants to believe her brother is reformed, Petra struggles to see him differently than she has always known him.  Late 30’s to Mid 40’s.

NAOMI  A parole officer with a dark past, Naomi is angry and vengeful.  She believes that it is her obligation to make her father David pay for his past and does not put trust in God, but rather in herself.  Late 20’s to Mid 30’s.

RUTH  As Naomi’s loving but quiet daughter, Ruth struggles to find a way to connect with her mother.  At only age 11, she has closed in on herself due to her mom’s neglect and her father’s absence.  12-16 Years Old.

DEE A lady who loves to gossip and “pray” about anyone in town, she usually comes up with her own conclusions from shreds of truth mixed in with her own imagination.  Mid 50’s to Mid 60’s.

RAHAB  A former sex-trafficking victim in hiding with her son Solomon, Rahab has come to the town of Oak Hill to seek help and rebuild her life.  Unfortunately she’s become the newest target for the town gossip, Dee. Late 20’s to early 30’s.

SOLOMON: 11 year old boy that acts like he’s a college professor, but seems to always see that others miss. 12-16 years old.
