Hoosier Heyday & Indiana-themed Make It Take Its

Presented by Indiana Historical Society and The Indianapolis Public Library and Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library at Indianapolis Art Center

Bring your family and friends for a day of Hoosier pride, experienced through several “Indiana-themed” art workshops that celebrate the uniqueness of our humble Midwestern state and history.
Classes will take place in our studios from 11am–1pm and require registration on our website. The public is encouraged to join us for free activities with local partners, games, refreshments, and more from 12:30pm–2:30pm. We’re excited to have the Indianapolis Public Library, the Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library, and the Indiana Historical Society all participating in this celebration of Hoosier history by highlighting some element of its history.
Whether you’re a farmer, basketball fan, literature buff, or Indiana artist, Hoosier Heyday will be a day you won’t forget!

About Hoosier Heyday partner events:
Curator’s Talk 1:30pm–2:30pm—Presented by Chris Lafave of the Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library
“Chris Lafave has cultivated a great deal of knowledge over the course of 8 years with the Vonnegut Museum and Library, he tells not only the story of Kurt’s life but the life of his family, and the enormous role they played in Indianapolis history! His favorite part of presentations is group discussion, where he is able to hear stories from other Vonnegut fans and history buffs, their stories make Kurt’s legend richer, and will allow it to last for generations to come.” https://www.vonnegutlibrary.org/staff-member/chris-lafave/
The Indianapolis Public Library
The public library will have librarians at the Indianapolis Art Center offering giveaways, story time, and other activities.
The Indiana Historical Society will be on premises speaking about Hoosier history and offering activities.
Additionally, the Indianapolis Art Center will pull from its archives several of Kurt Vonnegut’s drawings and illustrations to commemorate the special event.
