Kids Dance Outreach’s 2019 Event of the Year, Hold Fast to Dreams, will bring together children from across Indianapolis in a vibrant performance celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Harlem Renaissance.
Featuring original choreography and live music, KDO’s Event of the Year will incorporate the music, literature, visual art, and dance of artists including Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Aaron Douglas, Langston Hughes, the Nicholas Brothers, and more.
As we are transported to a time period often considered the golden age in African American culture, we will reflect on the power that the Arts have to connect us and remind us to “hold fast to dreams.”
About Kids Dance Outreach
The mission of Kids Dance Outreach (KDO) is to positively impact the lives of all children through joyful dance programs that inspire excellence, instill confidence, encourage teamwork, and applaud persistence. Since its establishment in 2012, KDO has shared its high-level dance programs with thousands each year through community partnerships around Indianapolis.
Before Kids Dance Outreach began, there were virtually no opportunities during the school day for Indianapolis children to experience high-quality dance opportunities with live music. Since its creation, through its In-School Program, Advanced Program, and Adaptive Dance Program, KDO has served over 9,000 children of all backgrounds and abilities around Indianapolis at no cost to the children or their families.
