With large-screen video and an original score, Ray Bradbury Live (forever) whirls through worlds fantastic, from Mars to the Cretaceous, including excerpts from classic Bradbury works.

Performed by permission of Ray Bradbury Literary Works and Don Congdon Associates, Inc. Emmy-winning actor Bill Oberst Jr. portrays celebrated sci-fi and fantasy author Ray Bradbury in a new stage show authorized by the writer’s estate and performed in his words.

The stage tribute was three years in the making and features a script by Oberst which mixes excerpts from Bradbury’s works, interviews and correspondence to paint a portrait of one of the 20th century’s most lauded and prolific authors. In addition to the Ray Bradbury Estate, Oberst’s script was vetted by Dr. Jonathan Eller, Director of IUPUI’s Center For Ray Bradbury Studies and author of two Bradbury biographies, and Bradbury scholar Dr. Phil Nichols of the University Of Wolverhampton, England.

Oberst, a veteran of over 150 film and TV appearances including CBS’s Criminal Minds, won multiple Off-Broadway and Los Angeles stage awards for his previous stage adaptations of Bradbury’s work, spurring him on to what he says was his “wild dream project:” to portray Bradbury himself onstage, complete with custom onstage video, an original music score, excerpts from celebrated Ray Bradbury works like “A Sound Of Thunder”, “Something Wicked This Way Comes” and “The Martian Chronicles”, even a surprise stage appearance by the author’s beloved wife, Maggie. “I hope” says Oberst “that this show is as magical, death-defying and life-affirming for the audience as it is for me. Ray was all about hope; all about humanity; all about love. We need a lot of all three right now.” Ray Bradbury Live (forever) begins a nationwide tour this summer, following try-outs Off-Broadway and in Los Angeles, where Bradbury lived and wrote for 78 years before his death at age 91 in 2012.
