A leading poet and one of the architects of the Black Arts Movement, Haki R. Madhubuti has been a pivotal figure in the development of independent Black institutions and a strong Black literary and intellectual tradition. He is one of the world’s best-selling authors of poetry and nonfiction. In this public lecture, Prof. Madhubuti will address challenges and opportunities confronting us in our current historical moment. He will speak on the importance of developing critical stances in matters of culture, agency, social justice, equity and community.
