Joining Two Quadros

Joining Two Quadros

Presented by Cortellini Studios at Artist-in-Residence Studio Scecina Memorial High School

“Daring Greatly” art project reaches new milestone.
Local artist, Conrad Cortellini, began the Feedback Fractal Project (Project) as a grand experiment. The
Project set out to build a “Monument for Our Time” based on new ideas, new imagery and new
approaches in art making. The work is a 3D portrait of “Chaos” and may become the largest paper
sculpture ever made.
The finished work is of heroic proportions measuring 32 ft. wide and 24 ft. high and comprised of
307,200 individual elements. It is subdivided into twelve 8 ft. x 8 ft. sections called “Quadros.”
The first Quadro was made in studio space provided by DeveloperTown (DT), a high tech Indianapolis
startup company. Attracting artisans among DT employees and others from the broader community,
the 25,200 individual elements were made by hand during the course of 2 years and assembled into
Quadro One – the DevoloperTown Quadro.
Subsequently the project was moved to the first Artist-in-Residence studio at Scecina Memorial High
School, Cortellini’s Alma Mater, where artisans among the student body and others assembled Quadro
Two – the Scecina Quadro.
A reception will be held to mark the first occasion of the union of two Quadros.
