CANCELLED: Fidelio! Celebrating Beethoven's 250th

CANCELLED: Fidelio! Celebrating Beethoven's 250th

Presented by Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra at Schrott Center for the Arts, Butler Arts Center

Due to Governor Holcomb’s announced steps to reduce the spread of the coronavirus in Indiana, events at the Butler Arts & Events Center (of Butler University) are cancelled or postponed today through Monday, May 11. Some events beyond this date are subject to cancel or be postponed. Click here for a full statement.

The Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, cast and chorus present a semi-staged version of Beethoven’s only opera, Fidelio. Written at the time of the French Revolution, Fidelio is an example of a “rescue opera,” a type of opera where the hero or heroine must fight against cruel people to rescue a lover. Happy 250th, Ludwig!
