Exhibit Columbus has announced the Opening Weekend (August 23–24) events for the 2019 Exhibition. Opening Weekend celebrates the start of Exhibit Columbus’ second exhibition, Good Design and the Community, featuring 18 temporary architectural installations and projects by artists and graphic designers that will transform Columbus, IN through December 1. Opening Weekend is also a celebration of the entire Columbus community that, for over 75 years, has invested in the belief in the power that art, architecture, and design has to improve peoples’ lives and making cities better places to live.

As part of the weekend’s celebrations, Exhibit Columbus will host curated conversations in two of the most iconic spaces of the city: Friday, August 23 in Eero Saarinen’s breathtaking North Christian Church; and Saturday, August 24 in Eliel Saarinen’s groundbreaking First Christian Church. These free, public conversations feature the exhibition participants and provide a platform to learn more about the designers’ experiences responding to and working within Columbus’ unique design legacy. Later that evening on August 24, experience an evening of cocktails, food, and entertainment at the Opening Night Party in Mill Race Park to toast the designers and community members who made the 2019 Exhibition possible.
