Indy Story Slam at Garfield Park

Indy Story Slam at Garfield Park

Presented by Storytelling Arts of Indiana at Garfield Park

Enjoy an evening in the Sunken Garden with the Garfield Breweryand The Original Swayzee Hand Breaded Tenderloin.

Visitors can enjoy live music, lawns games, and a chance to stroll through the historic Sunken Garden. Feel free to bring a blanket and/or lawn chairs.

Live music will be curated by the O’Boyz (Kevin O’Mara and Paul Burris), featuring special guests performing at each event. Beginning at 6 p.m. participate in the Indy Story Slam produced by Storytelling Arts of Indiana. The slam theme is “Neighborhood Stories.” These up-to-five minute personal stories must be true, told in the first person and based on the theme. The theme is broad and may be interpreted many ways. (no props nor reading from the page.)

The slam judges are picked from the audience along with the time keeper and score keeper so if you don’t want to tell, you can still participate. Our host, Celestine Bloomfield, will pick ten names of those who want to tell from a hat at the top of the show. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place winners.

Admission is free. Children and leashed dogs are welcome. (Dogs will not be allowed inside the Conservatory.)

Food and drinks will be available for sale. Outside food and drinks not permitted.
