The show will open Friday, October 4th, 6-9pm, as part of the First Friday Art Tour and admission is free. The programming continues on Saturday, October 5^th, 8-11:30pm. The +Saturday evening programming has a recommended donation of $15, or an item from a donated supply list benefiting Line+Form Art Center.

“’Afflatus,’ by definition, means inspiration; an impelling mental force acting from within,” Louise, a photographer by day and creative dreamer by night, said. “It was a little over a year we spent arranging shoots into our calendar. I wanted to shoot for this seasonally—one leading into the next season. Every few months, between our work schedules, we created these beautiful, thoughtful in detail but very improvisational, sessions that have translated into a fine art photo series and into a short film shot by (FC9 Artist and Red August co-presenter) Michael Anthony.”

About Ashley Louise and Afflatus

Ashley Louise is an Indianapolis native based in Hamilton County. She specializes in portrait photography, including weddings, special events, and boudoir, while exploring the art form with special projects like Afflatus.

“My portrait work and photography feel a bit painterly and moody” Louise said. “I love creating an image you can feel; I usually lean toward creating an image that will keep a bit of residual energy about it. Whether it\’s my own creative project or I\’m creating for a client, it feels like a piece of my interpretation of them; a piece of their character is left there.”

Ashley Louise merges her creative dreaming into her daily work to keep it authentic in style, while still evolving. She enjoys playing with color stories, textures, and creative editing techniques and prides herself on bringing those things to the table with more conventional sessions.

“Afflatus holds significance to me in the way it represents a time of personal change and metamorphosis. It carries both darkness and lightness, a bit of a dance between the two,” Louise said. “It speaks of the beauty that can come out of darker times, much like the ebbs and flows of what we all experience, be it creatively or just on our own journeys. Without the dark, we would never see the stars.”

About the Full Circle Nine Gallery

The Full Circle Nine Gallery operates as an artist cooperative gallery, with each of the member artists and the board dividing gallery duties and artists roles. The artists will work together to help each other advance in skill and practice, as well as to bring success to the gallery.
