Space/Void: Katja Strunz and Anna Martinez

November 6-24, 2019
Ash & Elm Event Space
2112 East Washington Street

The exhibition features major installations by Berlin-based artist Katja Strunz and Indianapolis artist Anna Martinez — two artists whose work addresses dimensionality, culture, and constructs.

Strunz deploys the language of space-time in her work, which manifests in three dimensions in her sculptural works and installations, and in two dimensions in her works on paper, which include collages and pulp paintings. Martinez creates work that decontextualizes (and sometimes recontextualizes) how we experience fashion, retail, and commodification — through collage, sculpture, and painting.

The exhibition is presented in partnership with the Goethe-Institut and Ash & Elm. It will be on view in the Ash & Elm production space, adjacent to the tasting room at 2112 East Washington Street. Parking is available in the Auto Value lot across Washington Street or directly behind the building. Street parking is also available on Hamilton or Jefferson.
