Exhibition, artist talk and gallery reception for Connectivity
Connectivity is an exhibit in collaboration with Marian University’s First Year Seminar Courses, featuring artwork by artwork by Crystal Vicars. Connectivity will be on display in the Marian University Art Gallery located in the Michael A. Evans Center for Health Sciences from October 16, – November 9, 2019. An artists’ presentation and reception of the exhibit will be held on October 24, from 4-6 p.m. The exhibit and reception are generously funded by the Talbot Street Art Fair and are free and open to the public.
For Crystal, painting is a spiritual event. The space between artist and canvas is natural, supernatural, and spiritual. Using mixed media materials such as antique maps, thread, birch bark, and oil paint she creates textured surfaces that invite the viewer into a world of sewn layers. With her research of nature, and pushing herself to my limits while running through its many forms, she creates an abstract translation with unique materials that visually explore physicality and place.
