Full Circle Nine Gallery Features Nicole Staab, “All Cracked Up” for November First Friday

Presented by Full Circle Nine Gallery at Full Circle Nine Gallery

“Pieces of glass can have a look of fluidity through different forms and patterns. Pieces once broken and sharp can be returned to something beautiful,” Staab said. “This show will provide a visual of how brokenness can be transformed. You will also have the opportunity to participate in creating artwork to benefit those trying to escape domestic abuse.” Staab will have a fundraising piece to benefit Sheltering Wings, which provides housing for survivors of domestic violence in emergency situations.

About Nicole Staab

Originally from Kansas City, Nicole Staab took up mosaic work first as a hobby in college. Each piece begins with a recycled backer, often using fencing or old windows. Staab also enjoys using off-cuts of stained glass, the oddly-shaped leftovers when stained glass is cut into square panels.

“Creating mosaics has given me a chance to work with many different mediums on a single project,” Staab said. “My intent is for people to come away with thinking about how the bits of brokenness help make up the beauty in ourselves.”

“All Cracked Up” will highlight how different backers and glass cuts can give movement to such a fragile and rigid material. Staab will also set up a community mosaic, inviting the public to add to the piece using provided materials. The community mosaic will be on display throughout November and will be sold with all proceeds benefiting Sheltering Wings.

About the Full Circle Nine Gallery

The Full Circle Nine Gallery operates as an artist cooperative gallery, with each of the member artists and the board dividing gallery duties and artists roles. The artists will work together to help each other advance in skill and practice, as well as to bring success to the gallery.

With over two dozen artists occupying a large, three-room space of the more factory-reminiscent portion of the Circle City Industrial Complex, Full Circle Nine offers a wide variety of art forms, media, and approaches.
