Presented by Tonic Indy at Fountain Square - venues vary

TONIC BALL BEGAN AS A GRASSROOTS FUNDRAISING EVENT IN 2002, WHEN A SMALL GROUP OF DO-GOODERS DECIDED THEY WANTED TO PUT ON A SHOW TO RAISE MONEY FOR A GOOD CAUSE.

The 18th edition of Tonic Ball will celebrate the music of Bob Marley, Beastie Boys, Radiohead, Diana Ross and the Ramones.

Tonic Ball, scheduled Nov. 22 at five Fountain Square venues, raises funds for hunger-relief program Second Helpings. The event gathers dozens of Indiana musicians and gives them an assignment: Perform songs made famous by someone else.

Country-rock pioneer Gram Parsons was the first Tonic Ball honoree in 2002. This year’s event spotlights reggae icon Marley, hip-hop’s innovative Beastie Boys, shape-shifting rock band Radiohead, Motown superstar Ross and punk rock’s trailblazing Ramones.
