The Harrison Center presents husband and wife artists Corey & Megan Jefferson in the Harrison Gallery in February with their exhibit, Reflections & Resources. The show opens Friday, February 7 with an artist reception from 6:00 to 9:00pm. This show is “a conversation of recent work between Corey and Megan as they explore topics that are inspired by the natural world. Corey creates sculptures using clay, artifacts, and forgotten items. Through spending time on local waterways fishing, kayaking and exploring, he has developed a reverence for the resources provided by our land. His sculptures highlight and celebrate these resources. Megan draws inspiration from the colors of the sunrise and sunset, from flora and fauna, and from the light that illuminates broad skies and landscapes. In this exhibition, Megan’s paintings are reflections of the same landscapes that offer materials for Corey’s sculptures. Megan and Corey often work in the same space and are influenced by one another’s colors, compositions and aesthetic. When they collaborate on projects, there is an ease to the process – a product of years of deep understanding of one another, trust and graceful, and create energy.”

In the Speck Gallery, Samos Alpha group show. This exhibition invites the viewer to see the island of Samos, Greece, through the eyes of six Indianapolis-based artists who attended this inaugural artist residency program organized by former Indianapolis-based artist Christos Koutsouras on his home island. The artists were inspired by his instruction, the unique history, and geography of the place as well as issues concerning the ongoing refugee crisis and climate change.

In the Gallery Annex, painter Danielle Winger presents The Meadows, Mine, The Mountains, Mine. Winger writes, “Using landscape as a ubiquitous device for investigating my personal history, I explore the human desire to connect, to long for shelter and to belong. By juxtaposing abstraction with naturalism, I examine how we interpret the natural world, both familiar and foreign.”

Aerosol and acrylic artist Joy Hernandez brings her colorful work to Hank & Dolly’s Gallery. Hernandez’s art is influenced by an appreciation of science fiction, pop culture, comic art and cartooning.

Continuing in the Underground Gallery is the 67th Street Printmakers group show, Multiple Originals. This printmaker collective is dedicated to sharing their art and the various methods of printmaking.

Naptown Stomp returns to the gym with live music and swing dancing. Founded in 2001, Naptown Stomp Lindy Hop Society is devoted to teaching and spreading enthusiasm for vintage swing dances, Lindy Hop being the primary form.

The work hangs through February 28.
