10-day vocal arts camp for High school aged students, at the Basile Opera Center
The Indianapolis Opera is proud to present the Vocal Arts Institute, a program for students entering grade 9 through recent high school graduates exploring the art of solo performance through classical repertoire, folksong, and musical theater. The Vocal Arts Institute is the perfect opportunity for high school students of all levels to refine their vocal skills in preparation for college. Daily classes cover a range of topics including movement and choreography, acting, private vocal instruction, auditioning, vocal health, International Phonetic Alphabet, memorization techniques, and college preparation. Students will give four public performances: this includes two solo recitals accompanied by Echoing Air baroque instrumental ensemble and two performances of a fully staged review-style show with costumes, props, choreography, lights, and staging. The performance venues will include the Basile Opera Center, Eskenazi Hospital, and a senior living center in the Indianapolis community.
Tuition and fees are being restructured.
