Join Programs Manager, Sarah K. Ginter, for IWC’s Book Club for Writers! The May pick is Ross Gay’s The Book of Delights.

This is the Book Club for Writers, so we will be reading this selection through the lens of a writer! The Book of Delights is a book of essays, so creative nonfiction writers are encouraged to join in but any genre is welcome! Sometimes the best way to grow your writing skills is to study a different genre.

You are invited to a private Facebook group (link below) to talk about Ross Gay’s book throughout the month. Since we’re getting a little bit of a late start, we’ll go into June with this pick. I’ll post weekly writing prompts in response to some of the essays, themes, word choice, etc. in the Facebook group. Our goal will be to work on short, focused essays (or essayettes as the author calls them). You can post your responses to the prompts in the group, comment, and pose questions and offer insight.

Finally, we’ll join together via Zoom on Thursday, June 4th at 7pm to talk about the book and have a write-in inspired by The Book of Delights.
