Featuring the works of 89 artists across 9 states, the Indianapolis Art Center is excited to open the Art From the Heartland exhibition on June 26.
As a means to highlight the new and exciting creations from Indiana and surrounding states, this biennial exhibition looks to survey Middle America and celebrate the voices of contemporary art that lie therein.
Following the recommendations and mandates of the CDC, WHO, and our City and State Government, the Art Center will not be hosting a proper exhibition opening celebration. While proper health measures including plexiglass shields at guest service areas and social distancing markers, we understand that the health and safety of artists and art appreciators alike are of the utmost importance.
The Art Center plans to reopen to the public at 50% capacity on June 22 and at 100% capacity on July 6. Like all of the Art Center’s exhibitions, the Art From the Heartland exhibit is free and open to the public. The works will continue to be on display until August 3, 2020, concluding with prizes including cash awards totaling $4k and two artists being chosen to host their own solo show. For those not able to see the exhibit in person, we will have an online gallery showcasing all of the work featured in the show.
This exhibition alongside the two previous exhibitions Body Building: The Art of the Human Figure and the 2020 College Invitational Exhibition will be hosted at: https://www.indplsartcenter.org/online_exhibition_galleries
