In January 2020, Phoenix Rising Dance Company’s Nina Simone: High Priestess of Soul took Indianapolis by storm with sold-out crowds and extended performances at the Phoenix Theatre.

The landmark show established Phoenix Rising as one of the most innovative and important dance companies in the nation with its powerful mix of dance, spoken word and imagery to explore racism and humanity through Simone’s life and music.

Join us as we reunite three artists from the Nina Simone show, Phoenix Rising Artistic Director Justin Sears-Watson, Manon Voice and Mat Davis. Phoenix Theatre Artistic Director Bill Simmons will join the discussion looking back at the production and revisiting its messages in today’s context of the Black Lives Matter movement.
