El Tendedero/The Clothesline Indiana

at Gallery 924

In partnership with Women 4 Change Indiana, Gallery 924 presents El Tendedero/The Clothesline Indiana, an exhibition honoring the collective impact work of women and organizations all over central Indiana inspired by the internationally known Mexican feminist artist, Monica Mayer.

The exhibition opens on Friday, Nov. 6 with a social distanced reception at the gallery and with a virtual reality exhibition link for those unable to attend in person. The exhibition features Indianapolis-based artists Darlene Delbecq, Beatriz Vásquez, and Samantha Veach. The show will share Newfield’s photographer, Samantha Veach’s documentation from a year of art and activism as Women 4 Change Indiana traveled the state to host events and inspire discussion and introspection into the pervasive issue of sexual harassment and violence against women and girls. Darlene Delbecq will share a series of portraits of artist Monica Mayer as well as new conceptual work around the issues of women’s bodily autonomy. Beatriz Vásquez will share a large scale papel picado inspired installation that explores her own experiences with the subject from a Latina perspective.

Much of the work in the show will be for sale as part of a fundraiser for The Indiana Alliance of Violence Against Women Organization.
