Carnatic Music Association of Indianapolis is a community based, not for profit, cultural association which is committed to preserving and promoting arts in the Central Indiana area. Since its inception since the year 1987, CMAI has arranged a diverse set of programs each year with both vocal and instrumental concerts by various artists from the Indian sub-continent.

A dedicated executive committee and the support of the members and the community have helped us maintain a strong cultural presence in Central Indiana. Our mission is to arrange concerts and dance programs of South India. Among CMAI’s objectives as a non-profit organization is promoting, preserving and propagating the fine art of Carnatic music across Central Indiana, we strive to educate and promote our unique cultural heritiage into our younger generation by conducting musical camps to enrich their knowledge.

CMAI has fostered an appreciation for Carnatic music in the Indianapolis area via its events conducted each year. One of them being our annual Composers’ day function, that is run by our members. It provides a platform for them to showcase their talents in vocal, instrumental, percussion music and also in the form on classical dance performances .
