The mission of Awareness of Mental Health through the Performing Arts (AMHPA) is to create awareness of mental health issues by providing education and insights through the performing arts, including music, dance, theatre, and film. The Indianapolis affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is a collaborator in this project.

AMHPA was founded in 2006 and has had two previous projects. The first project, entitled "The Power of Story: A Transforming Look at Mental Health," involved theatrical vignettes based on real stories acted out by Picture This Interactive Theatre of Community Health Network. In 2007. AMHPA produced "Hearing Voices, Speaking in Tongues" by playwright and actor Michael Mack. Both projects were presented in collaboration with the Indianapolis Spirit and Place Festival
