Architectural Detailing - Mosaic/Wall Relief - Outdoor Sculpture

 550 E Washington St, Indianapolis, IN, 46204

Created by Indianapolis-based artist Jackie Head with help from Ignition Arts and curated by the Indianapolis Museum of Contemporary Art (iMOCA), this low-relief mural is part installation and part mosaic adding color and interest to the west façade of an otherwise ordinary parking garage. Ignition Arts worked with Jackie Head to develop, fabricate, and install her artwork made of hundreds of precisely arranged slip-cast porcelain tiles that were then made into polyester resin. The parking garage facade was Head’s largest public project to date.

Jackie Head received a Bachelor of Fine Arts, with an emphasis in ceramics, and a Bachelor of Science in Arts Management from Indiana University Bloomington, and she is currently pursuing an MFA in Ceramic Art at the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University. Through her ceramic tile installations, she aims to create an environment that is calming and reflective.
