Duty. Bravery. Heroism. Dedication. Selflessness. Protection. Community. These are the traits that weave firefighters into the fabric of our neighborhoods. Fire Station 14 is located within sight of the world’s largest Children’s Museum. Both facilities bring life and hope into this dense urban area. The darkened panels of the Firefighter are symbolic elements of the surrounding community such as churches, houses, schools, trees, dogs, cats, families, and even dinosaurs representative of the prehistoric exhibit at The Children’s Museum. The sculpture’s elements form an abstract human figure holding a globe of fire away from the community providing security to the places we live, work and play.
