Being in a community can mean so many things: from joy and triumph to hardships and challenges. This mural illustrated and celebrated the quirkiness and successes that can be experienced when a community comes together to collaborate on a common goal.

The artist, Department of Public Words, was a short-lived multi-artist practice dedicated to putting positive words and phrases in public spaces. The group disbanded in the late 2010s.

Funding for Vibrant Corridors, a city-wide effort to create murals in key underpasses and gateways around downtown Indianapolis, is provided in part by the Lilly Foundation and the Glick Fund, a fund of Central Indiana Community Foundation, Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, the Arts Council of Indianapolis, and Downtown Indy.

This mural was completed during the 2014 Lilly Global Day of Service with the help of more than 200 Lilly Employees. It was demolished in June, 2021 when the Vermont Street overpass was removed as part of the I-65/70 North Split road reconstruction project.
