This ion depicts a crane emerging from the ground (soil) as if it is a plant. The sun, indicated by a small orange circle on the lower left side, begins to rise. The hook of the crane carries a seed, furthering its plant-like symbolism. The bottom portion of this piece is a dark black with a light stone design filling the rest of the piece.
Although the land is rich in coal deposits, Warrick County farmers also produce corn, soybeans and wheat cultivated by numerous local farms Likewise, this community is known for its production of apples, sweet corn and tomatoes.
Designers Jeff Laramore and David Jameson Young of 2nd Globe, an Indianapolis–based artistic company designed all 92 and the county sculptures featured on the outside of the Indiana State Museum. Their designs narrate the counties’ famous natives, historically significant events, or their fabricated and installed by various Indiana sculptors, carvers, class workers, metal workers, and other artisans.
