Glacier

Mural

 2301 Winthrop, Indianapolis, IN, 46205

Glacier depicts a large block of glacial ice melting at sea, and is intended to serve as a reminder of the impact our human activities have had on the environment globally. The mural was created in 2008 as part of the Arts Council of Indianapolis’ Picture Windows program, on the exterior wall of the Stone and Rhodes trucking company garage facing the Monon Trail.

The artist, Brian Myers, received his B.F.A. in Painting from the Herron School of Art & Design, IUPUI, in 2002. He served as a faculty member at Herron, winning the Harry A. Davis Faculty Award in 2009, and was named an Efroymson Contemporary Arts Fellow in 2005.  A still life painter by preference, Myers is attracted to imagery that explores the tendency of mankind to commit indiscretions in its search for redemption.
