Mural
2210 E. 36th Street, Indianapolis, IN, 46218
This mural was completed by street art duo FAB Crew. Artists 6Cents and Sacred317, created this largely monotone mural which depicts the likenesses of MLK, Muhammad Ali, Harriet Tubman, Malcolm X, as well as Indy’s own Julia Carson and Madam CJ Walker. Above the portraits, in a colorful, street art-style font, is rapper Tupac Shakur’s posthumously released poem, “The Rose that Grew from Concrete.”
Did you hear about the rose that grew from a crack
in the concrete
Proving nature’s laws wrong it learned 2 walk
without having feet
Funny it seems, but by keeping its dreams
it learned 2 breathe fresh air
Long live the rose that grew from concrete
when no one else even cared!
