Dance Kaleidoscope opened the doors of its own studios on Indy’s Near East Side in August 2020. Indiana’s longest-running professional contemporary dance company now after 49 years, has a home of its own. Our beautiful, airy, 13,000 square foot state-of-the-art dance center is also an inclusive and welcoming center for the Indianapolis community, and a home for you.
Since 2015, DK’s professional dancers have been teaching year-round classes for all ages and abilities from the youngest dancer on tippy toes to pre-professional students who want to learn the Graham Technique. There is a place for you at Dance Kaleidoscope Studios!
DK grew out of an educational program with Arts for Learning Indiana: Voice of the Arts (formerly Young Audiences of Indiana), the local chapter of the national arts organization that supports arts in education and has maintained a partnership with Arts for Learning throughout its history. Through its educational programs, the company has performed in hundreds of schools throughout Indiana and the country and annually presents dozens of student matinees and workshops that serve thousands of school children. A compelling aspect for DK’s education programs is its firm belief that the art of dance is an important tool for our children’s education and their ability to learn.
DK’s Mission:
To inspire, educate and entertain through the experience of outstanding contemporary dance.
Goals:
-
To create, produce and maintain a repertoire of outstanding dance by internationally recognized choreographers.
-
To strengthen and broaden the understanding and appreciation of contemporary dance.
-
To develop and sustain diverse audiences.
-
To provide increasing access and exposure to dance through development of informative educational programs for children.
-
To be a cultural ambassador of the Indianapolis community and the State of Indiana
