    American 3.14 Mural
    Category: Mural
Artist Ezi Underwood created and installed the images and backgrounds to revitalize this corridor on the Near Eastside of Indianapolis. A crew from Teen Works was a significant part of the creation and installation process. The project was completed with the support of Teen Works and the Rivoli Park Neighborhood. Englewood Church, NEAR, and Recycle Force also provided key logistical supports to make this project happen. Listen to an episode of Curious Mix that features the mural project HERE.

    Dimensions and Trigrams
    Category: Archive; Mural
The design of this mural features mandalas (symbolic diagrams of the cosmos) in a dimensional progression from 1-5, beginning with the 1st dimension and moving on the the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th in order.  The design also features ancient symbols called trigrams–markings arranged in three rows, with each marking unique to a specfic universal concept–that correspond and progress with the dimensions. Dimensions and Trigrams was part of a grassroots experimental program artist Andrew Severns had created with Lisa Boyles to inspire “Harmony through Geometry.”  Severns theorized that the innate order of geometrical shapes, arranged in meaningful patterns with logical color schemes, can improve communities’ sense of well-being, beautify neighborhoods, and inspire productive communication. • The Honey Hive
    The Honey Hive
Category: Mural; Traffic Signal Box Art
Artist Tosca Carranza was commissioned by Near East Area Renewal to paint five traffic signal control boxes along Rural Street, in a series called “I Love My Neighborhood.” The design for this box represents community:  bees live in close-knit groups where every member has a defined task, and they stay focused on their individual and communal goal. Tosca Carranza is a painter and art educator who lives on Indianapolis’ Near Eastside.
