Casey Stengel

This bronze cast of a 1965 statue by Rhoda Sherbell was made in 2000.  It once stood on the IUPUI campus near the National Art Museum of Sport, but has since been moved to their new location within the Children’s Museum.

The sculpture honors Charles Dillon “Casey” Stengel (1890-1975), the baseball player and manager associated with various pro teams, most famously, the New York Yankees and the New York Mets. His outsize personality often overshadowed the sporting accomplishments of his
