This sculpture portrays four musicians–a cellist, a violinist, a French horn player, and a pianist–in the act of performing in concert.  They are in evening dress. Only one of the figures, the pianist, is depicted in full length:  the others are partial figures, with only enough of their bodies shown to interact with their instruments, which are the focal points of the sculpture.  The “disappearance” of the players into their music is thus eloquently conveyed, and the overall impression is
