This mural was commissioned by the Optimist Club of Northside Indianapolis as a wayfinding element for Opti-Park, a small park that they own and maintain for the benefit of the neighborhood.
The Optimists wanted a design that could function both decoratively and, for those who are looking closely, as signage. The artist, William Denton Ray, used circles, leaf shapes, and 90 & 45 degree angles to keep it an optical abstraction. He chose a simple 6-color palette of blues, greens and teals
