This mural of a scarab beetle was created during an informal artist residency in Indianapolis in the summer of 2019. It is located on the wall of the Tube Factory ArtSpace, the home of Big Car Collaborative, a nonprofit arts and design organization dedicated to unifying people through art. One variety of scarab beetle, the dung beetle, was sacred to the ancient Egyptians, who used it extensively as a decorative motif. The Egyptian root word “khpr,” which refers to the beetle, means
