Loosely based on the plan of Broad Ripple Village, this abstract artwork by Ryan Feeney (Indy Art Forge) was created to enhance a mixed-use development in the heart of the village. Observant visitors can identify forms that bring to mind the bend in the White River and the Central Canal, picked out in blue paint, and characteristic streets and avenues. The artwork was created as part of the City of Indianapolis’ Public Art for Neighborhoods Program, which returns benefits to communities in exchange for incentives granted to developers for certain projects.
Ryan Feeney attended Miami University of Ohio, studying Sculpture and Graphic Design, and apprenticed to several local sculptors before founding Indy Art Forge in 2003. An active-duty Indianapolis firefighter, Feeney regularly takes part in the annual World Police and Fire Games, twice earning a gold medal and setting the current record in Bench Press.
