Ten West Center for the Arts is proud to announce that its upcoming production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is the second alladult musical cast for Ten West. The show runs July 29 – 30, 2016 at 7:30pm, with a matinee show on July 31, 2016 at 2:30pm. Ten West is located at 10 W. Church St. Fortville, Indiana. Tickets for The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Beeare $10 and available online at tenwestcenter.org/putnam. The show features a cast of eight adults, a live band, and provides an opportunity for audience participation. Volunteer spellers are involved throughout the musical, spelling words and interacting with the cast. Ten West’s intimate 140 seat setting provides a fantastic space for up close and personal performances.
A good portion of the production is improvised based on audience participation which makes for a different show every night. “I am so excited to lead this production,” remarked Director Andrew Okerson. “This is a cast filled with community theatre veterans from all over central Indiana. Spelling Bee’s on par with anything you would see in bigger venues around town.”
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Beefeatures an eclectic group of six midpubescents vying for the spelling championship of a lifetime. While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home life, the tweens spell their way through a series of [potentially madeup] words hoping to never hear the soulcrushing, poutinducing, life unaffirming “ding” of the bell that signals a spelling mistake.
Six spellers enter; one speller leaves! At least the losers get a juice box. A riotous ride complete with audience participation, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Beeis delightful den of comedic genius.
