In the vein follows the creative act of mark making along familial bloodlines as it moves back and forth between hand, image, and generation. Hidden deep in Precambrian Strada, veins of coal mark out a life of the world long past. In this new work Benjamin Martinkus uses coal, glitter, and the collaborative efforts of his own family members to describe another kind of mark making hidden in the veins.
