Public Talk with Carrie Mae Weems

One of the most important contemporary American artists, Carrie Mae Weems talks about her photography and, through it, her broader exploration of issues of identity, race, class, and power.

Join us on October 24 for the 2018 Jane Fortune Outstanding Women Visiting Artist Lecture with Carrie Mae Weems. Weems is the recipient of the MacArthur Fellowship, the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Prix de Rome.

The annual Jane Fortune Outstanding Women Visiting Artist Lecture is made possible by a gift from Jane Fortune and was established to bring internationally acclaimed female artists to Herron.

ADMISSION INFO

This event is free and open to the public and occurs in the Basile Auditorium of Eskenazi Hall on the IUPUI campus. Seating is limited and on first-come, first-served basis; plan to arrive early.

The Galleries, located in Eskenazi Hall on the IUPUI campus, are free and open to public Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Wednesdays until 8 p.m.

Parking is free, courtesy of The Great Frame Up Indianapolis with validation from the Herron galleries. Visitors may park in the Sports Complex Garage adjacent to Eskenazi Hall or park on levels 5-6 of the Riverwalk Garage. Visit HerronGalleries.org for more information.
