Auditions - First Date

FOOTLITE MUSICALS announces open auditions for FIRST DATE, a cabaret-style production to run in January 2020.

Auditions for this production are Saturday, September 28th from 1:00pm to 4:00pm or Sunday, September 29th from 6:30pm to 10:00pm. Callbacks are on Monday, September 30th at 7:00pm. Auditions will take place at Footlite Musicals, located at 1847 North Alabama Street. If you have a conflict with the audition time, please contact the producer or director ASAP to arrange an audition. The staff is seeking an ethnically diverse cast (stage age 25 and older), which will consist of seven actors – five of them will play several roles.

Please prepare a verse and a chorus from a Broadway musical other than FIRST DATE. An accompanist will be provided; please bring sheet music in the correct key. Be prepared to read from the script.

Rehearsals will begin in mid to late October and will be in the evening during the week, with some rehearsals on Saturdays and Sundays. No rehearsals on Fridays. Production dates are January 10, 11, 12, 16, 17, 18 and 19 of 2020. There is no participation fee to be involved.

About FIRST DATE

When blind date newbie Aaron is set up with serial-dater Casey, a casual drink at a busy New York restaurant turns into a hilarious high-stakes dinner. As the date unfolds in real time, the couple quickly finds that they are not alone on this unpredictable evening. In a delightful and unexpected twist, Casey and Aaron’s inner critics take on a life of their own when other restaurant patrons transform into supportive best friends, manipulative exes and protective parents, who sing and dance them through ice-breakers, appetizers and potential conversational land mines. Can this couple turn what could be a dating disaster into something special before the check arrives?
