Aurora PhotoCenter Seeks Contemporary Work for Photography Exhibition at Gallery 924

Aurora PhotoCenter, in partnership with Gallery 924, is seeking entries from central Indiana photographers for a group show, titled Is Everyday Extraordinary? A Photography Show, that highlights photographic works of any shape, size, or process that demonstrate photography’s unique ability to make the everyday extraordinary.

Aurora PhotoCenter (www.auroraphoto.org) is a new Indianapolis arts organization dedicated to supporting creativity through photography. This is an opportunity to introduce yourselves to Aurora PhotoCenter, and for you to get to know Aurora and their mission.

Selection Criteria:

For Is Everyday Extraordinary? A Photography Show, the selection criteria is broad, allowing Aurora PhotoCenter to get acquainted with as many central Indiana photographers and their work as possible.

This exhibit seeks to celebrate photography’s power to extract the extraordinary from everyday moments. Aurora PhotoCenter will consider any photo-based images that fit within that wide description, so feel free to get creative in its interpretation.

Selection Process:

Submissions will be reviewed and selected by Aurora PhotoCenter. The exhibition opening will be Friday, November 1st from 6 – 9 p.m.

2D work must be framed (if appropriate), wired, and ready to hang. There are no size restrictions on artwork. If your large-scale work is accepted into the show, Gallery 924 staff will work with you to find a display solution.

All central Indiana photographers over the age of 18 are welcome to submit. For these purposes, central Indiana is considered Marion and the seven surrounding counties: Boone, Hamilton, Hancock, Shelby, Johnson, Morgan, and Hendricks.

If accepted for exhibition, work must be delivered to Gallery 924 by October 28th or 29th (exact times to be announced) and if not sold must be picked up within a week of the close of the exhibition. Artists are encouraged to attend the opening, but not required. Artwork will be insured by the gallery for the entirety of the time it is in the gallery. Artists will be given a digital marketing tool kit and asked to help promote the show to their patrons.

Submission Process:

To submit, please email the following to info@auroraphoto.org:

  • Up to 5 (five) images
    • Images should be 72dpi and around 800 pixels in any direction or of a file size less than 1MB each. (Images used for CAFÉ, SLIDEROOM or other submission sites are acceptable)
  • Image list in the body of the e-mail (not in a separate document) including title, date, medium, dimensions* and price**. List any special installation requirements on image list as well – e.g. needs electricity, comes with own plinth, etc.

*Please include dimensions of actual display space, meaning including any frames. Also, if your work is framed with anything other than a simple black gallery frame, please send a photo of the frame as well.

**Please note that Gallery 924 and Aurora PhotoCenter will split a 25% commission on all artwork sold in the gallery; however, artists should keep their prices at a consistent level based upon previous sales, not commission rates.
