10-Week Summer Paid Internship
in partnership with Harrison Center through a Federal LIFT Grant.

The two main requirements are age and socioeconomic status. Candidates must be between the ages of 16-24 and qualify as low income.

Here’s the job description:

I. Brief Overview of Host Organization (Mission and Relevant Programs)

  • The Harrison Center for the Arts is a catalyst for renewal in the city of Indianapolis by fostering awareness, appreciation, and community for art and culture.
  • Quincy Owens is a highly active artist working in multiple disciplines along with collaborator, Luke Crawley. Their work encompasses light, sound, sculpture, installation and site-specific works.

II. Fellowship Position (Focus, Projects and Responsibilities)

  • Creative Placemaking Fellow
    • Aid in creative placemaking using skills in art, media, and research of the specific place.
    • Learn about the location in order to create art that adds to the character and identity that already exists and develops a sense of place.
    • Learn and work with the community to create art in order to benefit them and their ways of life.
    • Discover new skills and methods in order to create work with longevity and meaning to a larger population.
    • Work cooperatively with other artists, interns, or participants to create work that is inspiring to all and developed from many perspectives.

This opportunity is excellent for qualified 21st Century Scholars. Passionate about culture, community, and place to strengthen core neighborhoods. Flexible, self-motivated, able to work both cooperatively and independently.
