The Port of San Diego invites professional artists and artist groups to submit their qualifications for the Harbor Park Call for Artists opportunity. This is a unique opportunity for artists to create innovative and engaging permanent public artworks on Port tidelands.

Project Description
As part of the Port of San Diego's Chula Vista Bayfront project, Harbor Park will be established as a new Port park along the Chula Vista waterfront. Pursuant to the Port's BPC Policy 609: Public Art Programs, 1% of the total project budget will be allocated to the acquisition of public art. Artwork Location Description
Harbor Park will be a vibrant and active regional waterfront destination that reconnects the City of Chula Vista and surrounding communities to the Bay. Diverse park features include an expansive bayside lawn, picnic groves, a family play area, destination pier, an iconic beach framed by terraced headlands, and a beach front café with dramatic views to downtown San Diego’s skyline and the Coronado Bridge. The park will be activated by watersport rentals, and diverse programmed events and activities.

Timeline
Selected artists/artist teams will begin working with Port staff and park planners in the fall of 2020 to develop and integrate their artwork concepts. The project is expected to take several years to complete.
