StitchWorks is a sewing facility operated by PATTERN, a 501c3 nonprofit, that provides production services to apparel designers and education to those wishing to learn the skill of industrial sewing.
What does a StitchWorks Sewing Operator do?
Operate industrial sewing equipment (straight-stitch, serger/overlock, coverstitch)
Follow edges, seams or markings on material
Cut excessive material with scissors and nippers throughout shift
Cut fabric for projects
Check for the quality of products and materials
Have a basic knowledge of fabrics, notions and tools
Sew fasteners and trimmings, using needle thread or sewing machine
Understand basics of garment construction
Press by hand
Compensation varies based on project and is by piece. Average hourly rate is between $11-13.50 p/h
