WHIN Walls Mural Project Request for Qualifications

WHIN WALLS RFQ
Background / Vision
WHIN Walls is a region-wide public art project wherein a piece of public art will be developed, executed, and installed in every county included in the WHIN footprint of Indiana (Benton, Carroll, Cass, Clinton, Fountain, Montgomery, Pulaski, Tippecanoe, Warren, and White). WHIN Walls aims to increase county and regional vitality.

Public artworks (in the form of murals and/or sculptures) will be created. Each artwork will be selected by a core committee of local representatives and featured in a prominent county location. County stakeholders will develop themes and select their respective artworks from submitted artist proposals. The execution of each of the artworks includes community workshops wherein individuals of all ages that live in the county can actively participate in the creation of the artwork itself.

Project Description
This is a paid public art opportunity for qualified artists to create a piece of public art. Artist stipends are set at a base rate of $5000 and may be increased per the wall dimensions or complexity of design. Supplies will be purchased by TAF and are independent from the artist stipend.

1. Architectural, Aesthetic Considerations
The design must be suitable and acceptable for public display for viewing by citizens of all ages.

2. Artist Eligibility
A successful candidate must be community-oriented. The selected artists must execute the on-site artwork in two weeks or less and must be able to independently operate an articulated lift, scissor lift, spray gun, and assemble scaffolding. The selected artist will commit to instruction of two community workshops, be able to talk about their artwork publicly, and be present for the dedication of the artwork upon finish.

The deadline for this opportunity is December 1, 2019.
