2015 Undergraduate Exhibition

The 2015 Undergraduate Exhibition will open Wednesday, November 18, 2015 in the Berkshire, Reese and Paul galleries of Eskenazi Hall and in the Eskenazi Fine Arts Center (1410 Indiana Avenue). This year’s jurist will be Scott Stulen, curator of audience engagement and performance at the Indianapolis Museum of Art. In a typical year, the jurist must select from more than 300 very strong submissions across a wide variety of media. The exhibition continues through December 16. Shuttle service between the buildings will be available during the opening night reception.

On opening night we will have the Jane Fortune Outstanding Women Visiting Artist Lecture featuring Eleanor Antin. Her trailblazing art stretches back 50 years and more. Sensuous, witty and affecting, her best-known works include The Last Days of Pompeii and 100 Boots.

It is the generosity of Dr. Jane Fortune—author, cultural editor, art historian, art collector and philanthropist—that brings Antin to Herron. As Fortune’s 2009 book, Invisible Women: Forgotten Artists in Florence, illustrates, one of her passions is elevating women artists. “I want to make an impact on the community that surrounds me and help make the arts accessible to our residents. For me, supporting Herron makes sense. Why would you not want to support excellence?” she says. Past lecturers include Polly Apfelbaum, Deborah Butterfield, Judy Chicago and Maria Magdalena Campos-Pons.

The lecture is free and open to the public.
