Featured Artist – Musical Theatre

Tenéh B. C. Karimu is a multi-hyphenate creative encompassing talents in piano, voice, theatre, and creative direction in the performing arts. Teneh studied and performed the piano for 30 years in her hometown of Indianapolis, and after attending Hampton University to study piano and voice, she returned home to contribute to the local arts scene, most notably as an instructor and director at Asante Children’s Theatre and at the Booth Tarkington Civic Theatre. She has also performed with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, the Phoenix Theatre, and Footlite Musicals. Some of Tenéh’s favorite performing and directing credits include The Color Purple, Dreamgirls, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

The Arts Council of Indianapolis celebrates Black History Month with a series of free, daily performances and not-to-be-missed events at the Indianapolis Artsgarden.

This is the 24th year of the Art & Soul celebration, which runs from February 1 – 29, 2020.
