Hot Jazz for Cool Kids!

January 11,2015…. Children and families are invited to this outstanding series of free performances by Indy's leading jazz musicians. They are a great way to share jazz music with children that will be fun for everyone! These hour-long programs are presented by the Learning Curve at Central Library in partnership with The Indianapolis Jazz Foundation and Indy Jazz Fest. This performance will feature Kenny Phelps and Friends. Back by popular demand, jazz educator and drummer Kenny Phelps will guide the audience to the moment when they recognize the building blocks of jazz that include rhythm, melody and improve. This program will feature interactive fun and great music.

February 22,2015…This performance will feature DM Jazz 8. Eight is enough for that big band sound as co-leaders trombonist Rich Dole and drummer Gene Markiewicz will have children and adults swinging along with this band of veteran jazz professionals.

March 8,2015…This performance will feature the Joel Tucker Band and the next jazz generation. Carrying on the Indianapolis legacy of great jazz, this young group will inspire future musicians.
