Jeanne Rhoades Smucker was one year old when she moved with her parents to Ecuador. She lived in Llano Grande for the first 14 years of her life. Now, after more than 55 years, she has returned to her Ecuadorian home and community and reconnected with her childhood friend Mercedes. In her memoir, she recounts the adventure of returning to the home of her childhood and looking for that part of herself that she left behind.
